Past participants of the Kiwanis Winter Triathlon have participated by either running, snowshoeing or skiing across the 13.6 kilometer course.

But the Chair of the event Brandi Venne says this year, there will be a set of wheels involved as well.

She says on top of the triathlon portion there will also be a Fat Bike 10 kilometer ride following the triathlon.

Venne says they are trying to make this a big event to attract local and out of town participants.

Venne says the Fat Bike 10 kilometer ride takes place on the ski trails.

She says they are holding the event a little later on the calendar this year to potentially avoid some frigid temperatures.

Venne says the event is free for spectators and particpants can register the morning of the event in the Nipissing University Cafeteria between 930 and 1030am.
