fire deptMark King says they made the right decision last year when they restructured the fire department.

The Chair of Community Services says he’s happy with the way things have turned out since March of 2015.

That was when Council approved changes which saw a shift towards Risk Management and Dynamic staffing based on a single family dwelling.

As well they eliminated the minimum staffing of 16 with suppression. King adds he thinks there could be more changes that could also help with the fire departments budget.

He says “I suspect that we’ll probably see some staffing changes with opportunities for people to retire, so we could see changes there.

King says there are also opportunities in other areas of Community Services for savings which he intends to bring up during the Operational Committee Review meetings which get underway later this month.
