Chamber logoThe provincial budget is being delivered on Thursday at Queens Park.

North Bay and District Chamber of Commerce President Jake Lacourse says two priorities are key for both the provincial and local chambers — eliminating the deficit and reducing the debt.

Lacourse says other issues they’ll be looking at in the budget include ways to leverage new market opportunities and engaging the business community in regulatory reform.

Meantime, he was glad to see the implementation of the Ontario Pension Plan has been pushed back a year by the government.

Instead of it taking effect on New Years Day 2017, it will now began 12 months after that.

Lacourse says they’re still opposed to it, so they see this as a small victory.
