Local Group Raising Funds to Honor Louise de Kiriline Lawrence

There’s an effort in the Bonfield/Mattawa area to recognize one of the pioneers in that area’s health care history.

Her name is Louise de Kiriline Lawrence.

The Nipissing Naturalists are hoping to raise $5,000 to pay for a government plaque.

One of the fundraising events is a musical event on March 4th at the Parish Hall in Bonfield.

Spokesperson Steve Pitt says many organizations have already chipped in including the Red Cross, the Bonfield Lions Club and the community of Bonfield.

Pitt says Kiriline Lawrence was the head nurse for the Dionne Quints, a world class bird watcher and an author in addition to being a veteran of World War One.
