Almaguin Highlands OPP and the Northeast Region SAVE Team did an enforcement blitz on snow machines over the weekend.

The blitz checked almost 700 snow vehicles and 12 operators were charged for speeding.

Two motorists were charged for trail permit offenses and 1 not having the proper insurance.

Meantime, police also checked about snow machines travelling on sidewalks in Sundridge.

145 machines were checked and five operators were charged with violating the Highway Traffic Act.

Police says sidewalks are for pedestrians not snowmachines.
