Police2 (North Bay)Calls for service and police activity in North Bay continued to increase in the first month of 2016.

Deputy Police Chief Scott Tod says there were higher numbers year over year in both of those categories.

He says there were both up by 10% and that was a trend that increased in 2015 and continues to do so in 2016.

Tod adds there were 7 more assaults this past January compared to January of 2015.

As well theft under cases was up by 22 and stolen vehicles were up by 3.

Tod says there were almost 130 motor vehicle accidents to report as well.

He says that’s up over 105 from last year.

Tod says that contributing to that could be driver behaviour, speeding to fast on poor road conditions and poor visibility also played a factor during snowstorms or the height of snow banks.

There were 13 people injured in these collisions.
