Study to show city direction to go in for linking downtown with the waterfront

The City wants to make the downtown and waterfront area more attractive for tourists.

They have agreed to award a contract for the completion of a Downtown Waterfront Land Use and Urban Design Plan.

Councillor Daryl Vaillancourt says this is the first step in linking the two areas and making it one attraction. He says they need this study before they move forward.

Vaillancourt says the report will present facts of what is needed and what is the best way to approach it.

He adds overall they want to bring residents and tourists to the area and give them a reason to stay.

Vaillancourt says the most common comment he hears is people want something to do while they are down at the waterfront, especially if they are travelling to get there.
