Anishinabek

Minister of Natural Resources and Forestry Bill Mauro was in the area last week.

He was part of the announcement to invest $9.5 million in a new Fire Management Headquarters at Jack Garland Airport.

He also took time to meet with Anishinabek Grand Council Chief Patrick Madahbee. They renewed a letter of commitment and signed the sixth multi-year Memorandum of Understanding regarding natural resources management issues.

Mauro says it was important to get that signed.

He says the agreement helps them develop policy that has traditional ecological knowledge that comes from First Nations partners.

Mauro says the renewed agreement is for a three year term.
