Hazardous Waste DepotDespite another recent blast of winter, spring is top of mind for local residents and that means cleaning out the garage and shed.

Waste Management coordinator Al Tomek says they’re starting to see more people come in to the Hazardous Waste Depot.

He says last year they collected over 200,000 litres of hazardous waste.

He says they accept all sorts of hazardous waste from paint to oil and oil filters, gasoline, batteries and electronics too.

In fact, Tomek says they collected enough electronics last year to fill 30 to 40 tractor trailers.

he city’s Hazardous Waste Depot on Patton Street is open Wednesdays through Saturday from 8 am to 6 pm.
