committee handleyTwo historical plaques will be posted this year by the Municipal Heritage Committee

That was revealed in a presentation Monday night to a council committee by the chair of the committee Peter Handley.

He was there to report on the 2015 year, which included several public events.

As for the location of the two plaques, Handley says they will be The Capitol Centre and at the site of Wallace Park: the original Memorial Gardens.

He says Wallace Park is the only enclosed sports field the city has ever had and lasted from 1909 to 1962.

Handley says the Capitol Centre is one of our early theatres and still thrives today.

He says no dates have been given for those historical plaque events.

Meantime, after being asked a question on whether there’s a place to put artifacts of the Algonquin Regiment, Handley suggested City Hall.

He says there’s a big space on the main floor and there would be room for Dionne Quints artifacts too.
