protest fridayFriday was a day of action across the province including in North Bay.

The day was all about fighting for 15 dollars and fairness.

The organizers say there’s a need for the minimum wage in Ontario to be pushed up to 15 dollars an hour from the current 11.25.

One of the participants was the federal candidate in the last election Kathleen Jodouin.

She says people deserve better.

Jodouin says there are a lot of hard working families that can’t make ends meet even though they have full time jobs.

She says they shouldn’t have to go to the food bank at the end of the month.

Now the hourly wage is going up to 11.40 in October but organizers of the event say that’s not good enough.

Jodouin says with more money people will spend it and invest it in their communities.
