West Ferris ArenaCimco Refrigeration has been awarded a contract by City Council to take care of the maintenance upgrades for the refrigeration systems at the city’s three arenas.

The upkeep will cost $54,000 a year for three years, with a two year extension option.

Chair of Community Services Mark King says instead of spending money on every upgrade, they will have Cimco Refrigeration take care of everything for the length of the contract.

He adds they were hopeful a local company would step up but that wasn’t the case.

King says there is no one in town who can handle the work required, but he says they’re determined to sign contracts to local companies as often as possible.
