District of Nipissing Social Services Admin Board17 projects aimed at reducing poverty in the district are receiving a total of 470-thousand dollars in funding through the Nipissing Healthy Communities Fund

The projects receiving funding include a program in Mattawa that offers low income families toosl and strategies to cook healthy meals and stretch food budgets. 

There’s also a program of recreation, art, culture and community activities for children and youth of low income families. 

The request for proposal process saw the District of Nipissing Social Services Administration Board receive 33 applications and officials say unfortunately some worthy projects were excluded because of the limited budget.
