HousePeople in North Bay are are receiving their 2016 property assessment from the Municipal Property Assessment Corporation.

We told you last week the property valued decreased on average by 2.2% compared to 4 years ago.

The average assessment works out to about $222,000. The media relations specialist Darlene Rich was asked what they tell people who aren’t happy with their assessment.

She says people should ask themselves if they could have sold their property on January 1st at the current assessment and if they could have she says the assessment is correct.

If they couldn’t she says they are committed to working with people to get the right assessment.

she suggests people go on line at aboutmyproperty.ca to learn more about residential marketing trends and how their property was assessed.

Rich says the assessment is based on the real estate market.
