City Council has directed staff to rezone a couple of properties in the North Bay to allow for the potential use as a casino.

The recommendations received unanimous support at last night’s council meeting (Monday).

The properties in question include the former Kenroc Site on Memorial Drive and 401 Pinewood Park Drive.

Chair of Engineering and Works Councillor Tanya Vrebosch says this is the first step in the process.

She says, “This is NOT just us saying we’ve just approved a casino to go here, this is the be all, end all. The people will have an opportunity to speak.”

Mayor Al McDonald says there’s a whole regulated process, including a public meeting, that needs to take place like any other subdivision.
