The Powassan Voodoos have signed North Bay Midget AAA Trappers defenceman Tye Lindeman for the upcoming season.

The local blueliner was a 13th round pick by the North Bay Battalion in the 2016 OHL Priority Selection.

“It’s great to have another local player on our team, Tye was drafted to the Battalion just like Eric was,” noted Voodoos Head Coach Scott Wray.

“Hopefully Eric makes the step this year, and makes the squad with the North Bay Battalion, and that means we are doing our job down here. We are developing the players to the next level and that’s what we want, we want our local guys to stay local and be able to play a high level of Tier II Junior ‘A’ and then hopefully make the step up.”

Lindeman netted one goal and six assists for seven points in 33 games with the local Midget AAA Trappers last season.

He was a standout for Team NOHA at the OHL Cup and also known as a player who shows a strong work ethic and excellent compete level.

“I am a defensive defenceman able to shut down the elite, I am good in my own zone and I can rush the puck if I have to, that kind of guy,” Lindeman said describing his style of play.

“I thought my best chance was to get drafted by the Battalion and I am just happy I get to play in my hometown with Powassan and maybe one day the Battalion.”
