NORAD training bringing U.S. military vehicles and contracted fighter aircraft to North Bay

For the next 11 days local residents may notice a number of U.S. military vehicles in the area and contracted fighter jets in the sky.

Over 60 members from the South Carolina Army National Guard’s 263rd Army Air and Missile Defense Command are working with 22 Wing North Bay on air defence artillery scenarios.

It’s all a part of NORAD training and officials advise drivers to be cautious around convoys.

There will also be short-range air defence equipment, including Sentinel radars and Avenger missile launchers.

The training does not include any live ammunition and there won’t be any live-fire missle training either.

Contracted fighter aircraft will be flying scenarios in the North Bay area, including flying below 1,000 feet.
