There have been job losses at the former Fabrene plant in North Bay.

The workforce at Berry Plastics has been reduced by about 20 hourly and salaried workers.

In a statement, the company says the reduction is being done through a combination of early retirements and permanent layoffs.

The local facility, which currently employs about 200 people, is part of the Company’s Health, Hygiene, and Specialties Division.

They manufacture product for the industrial and construction markets and staff their workforce in accordance to industry demand.

The company says “due to recent fluctuations in demand, the Company has found it necessary to take these actions.”
