A busy long weekend for Almaguin Highlands OPP with 72 calls for service and a dozen RIDE programs.

379 vehicles were checked.

Offences included 44 speeding charges, two distracted driving counts and nine seatbelt charges. Along with a number of Highway Traffic Act offences, there was one Liquor Act charge and two drug counts.

Of note, there were no impaired charges.

 

Meantime, Almaguin Highlands OPP report results are in from the 2016 Community Satisfaction Survey, covering a variety of topics from property crime, nuiscance activities, lack of youth activities and more.

Just over 37 percent thought property crime was a problem, 36 percent felt alcohol abuse was a concern and just over 51% felt drug/substance abuse was a problem.

Overall, 98.4 percent of respondents felt ‘very safe’ or ‘safe’ in their community.
