City police are reporting 5 people were charged over the weekend after police received 246 calls for service.

Offences included domestic assault, drug-impaired driving and public intoxication.

Details have been released involving one of the incidents, early yesterday (Sunday), where a 22 year old North Bay man was charged with domestic assault and breach.

City police say they were called to a neighbourhood north of High Street and south of Hwy 17 about a heated argument between a man and a woman.

The woman’s scream woke up a witness who saw a man chasing the woman.

It’s alleged the accused punched the woman, who did not need medical treatment.

The final day of the city police Back To School Traffic Enforcement campaign, on Friday, saw 5 people ticketed for speeding in the O’Brien Street Community Safety Zone.

Another 8 were ticketed in the Community Safety Zone on Algonquin Avenue.

The highest registered speed there was 74 km/h in 40 km/h zone.

Police say even though the campaign has wrapped up, traffic enforcement and patrol officers will continue to monitor traffic and enforce traffic laws in North Bay and Callander, including in school zones, community safety zones, along school bus routes, and at school crossings.
