North Bay workers are rallying for change.

They’re heading to Queen’s Park tomorrow (Saturday) to join with workers from across Ontario who are pushing for improvements to the Employment Standards Act and the Labour Relations Act.

North Bay and Disctict Labour Council President Henri Giroux says a lot of good paying jobs are disappearing.

“We hear about a lot of people, precarious workers, that are struggling in life. We’re also hearing workers that are saying even if they’re putting in a full days work they still have to stop at the food bank, because they don’t have enough money to pay for their groceries,” stated Giroux

The Labour Council says “temp agencies” are crowding the employment landscape and if this is the new normal than the province needs to step in and improve conditions for vulnerable workers.

Giroux says they’re looking to hear from precarious workers to hear first hand about how they’re being impacted.
