The Northeast LHIN has launched a health and housing strategy.

Mike O’Shea is a senior officer with the Northeast Local Health Integration Network.

He says there’s is a connection with health and affordable housing for vulnerable people.

O’Shea says there’s not enough housing, different types of housing are needed and the stock of housing continues to get older.

Recently the board adopted the strategy and now they need support from agencies like the various DSSAB’s across the northeast, mental health and social service providers and cultural organizations too.

O’Shea says the strategy has 43 objectives and there’s something for everyone including energy efficiency in housing and supports for housing.
