Employment was up in the area last month

A big jump in employment in the North Bay area.

Stats Canada reports employment was at 57 .6 percent in September.

That’s five per cent better than the same month in 2015.

There were about 2,900 more people in the Labour force last month, compared to September 2015.

Unemployment, meantime, was virtually unchanged at 5.1 percent last month.

The figures include the City of North Bay, Callander, East Ferris and Bonfield.
