The federal Conservative Party leadership race is down to six candidates.

This after Parry Sound Muskoka MP Tony Clement announced he’s dropping out of the race, saying his campaign fell short of certain goals set back in July.

Clement says those goals included financial ones.

In the meantime, he says he’ll be doing all he can to support interim leader Rona Ambrose and the Conservative Caucus as they do the important job they have in opposition.

Clement also says he’ll find another way to help both the party and the country.
