As we get ready to move back to Standard Time on the weekend, North Bay Fire and Emergency Services is out with a “timely” reminder.

Fire Prevention Officer Sheri Korn this is the perfect time to remind people to change the batteries in their smoke alarms and carbon monoxide detectors, to ensure they’re in top working condition.

She also says it’s a good time to check the manufacturers date on the units too.

Korn says if a smoke alarm is 10 years or older and a Carbon Monoxide detector is 7 years or older they highly recommend they be replaced.

Most people across Canada, including locally will move their clocks back one hour before bed tomorrow (Saturday).
