The visiting North Bay Battalion defeated Niagara 6-5 in a shootout on Friday night.

Justin Brazeau scored the only goal in the the shootout to secure the win.

The Battalion held a 3-1 lead after the first period on goals from Zach Poirier, Maurizio Colella and Brazeau.

North Bay gave up 3 goals in the second before Colella scored his second of the game, to even the score at 4 at the 12 minute mark of the third.

Niagara regained the lead 1:13 seconds later but Steve Harland scored 62 seconds after that to tie the game at 5.

Battalion goaltender Mat Woroniuk made 32 saves in the win.

The Troops, who are now alone in top spot in the Central Division with 19 points, are back on home ice Sunday afternoon against the Mississauga Steelheads.
