The topic of Human Rights was front and centre at Nipissing University, Thursday as the Ontario Human Rights Commissioner visited the post-secondary school.

Commissioner Renu Mandhane says the purpose of her stop in North Bay was to educate local groups and people on how to simplify the Human rights Code.

She says the workshop wasn’t geared to anyone in particular but was hoping to spur discussions and questions about the code.

Mandhane says the topics covered include systemic Discrimination, gender Identity and gender expression, and preventing sexual harassment.

She also had the opportunity to meet with other locals groups earlier this week to go over some of the new hiring practices set out by the Code.
