Highway 11 North is back open between North Bay and Cobalt after a fatal collision yesterday morning (Thursday).

OPP say there’s alternating traffic near Temagami.

One person was killed after two transports collided south of Temagami, which also resulted in a large vehicle fire.

Temiscaming-Cochrane MPP John Vanthof says accidents do happen, but he told the Legislature that when Highway 11 is closed, access to medical services or family is also closed.

Vanthof goes on to say, “it also, once again, shows how important passenger rail service is so important to our part of the world and why it needs to be reinstated, and why cancelling it 5 years ago was such a major mistake. You can’t continue to cut off pieces of this province.”
