The North Bay Battalion won 3-2 in Hamilton last night (Friday).

Steve Harland scored twice, including the eventual winner, while Daniil Vertiy also found the back of the net for the Battalion.

Troops netminder Brent Moran made 26 saves in the win.

North Bay is back in action tonight in Erie.

In the NOJHL, the Powassan Voodoos won their 15th straight game, setting a new franchise record for consecutive wins.

They defeated Cochrane 6-1.

Brett Hahkala scored twice with singles from Gary Mantz, Ryan Theriault, Tyson Gilmour and Gabriel Rheault.

The Voodoos built a 6-0 lead before the Crunch scored their lone goal around the 10 minute mark of the third period.

The road trip continues tonight for Powassan as the Voodoos play the Timmins Rock.

 

The North Bay Midget AAA Trappers scored a 10-0 win over the Sudbury Minor Midget Wolves last night.

Joe Whittet scored twice and added two assists while Jacob Peterson Galema and Erik Lachance also scored two goals each.

Ryan Mills had a goal and three assists.

They’re on the road to Copper Cliff to play the Nickel Capitals tonight.

 

In OUA men’s hockey, the Nipissing Lakers dropped a 2-1 decision in Guelph last night.

They’re in London to play Western tonight.

The Nipissing women, meantime, host Laurentian tonight at Memorial Gardens.

In basketball, both Nipissing teams lost to Carleton last night.

The men dropped a 79-59 decision to the Ravens while the women lost 71-39.

The two Lakers teams play against the University of Ottawa tonight.

 

In OCAA basketball, Canadore College lost 85-78 to Georgian.

The Panthers play George Brown tonight.

 

At the OFSAA “A” boys volleyball championship in North Bay, the West Ferris Trojans won twice in pool play yesterday to finish the round robin at 2-2.

West Ferris lost 3-1 to Acton in the consolation quarterfinals.

Meantime, at the OFSAA “AAA” boys event in Burlington, the Chippewa Raiders split their final two round robin games yesterday to finish round robin play at 1-3.

Three teams were tied with one win each, but the Raiders tournament ended based on a tie-breaker.
