North Bay cluster OPP report one impaired driver has been charged since the start of the Festive RIDE campaign.

Constable Carolyn Ward says right now they’re averaging about two or three RIDE checks a day, at different times and different locations.

She says it appears the message to NOT drink and drive is getting through.

“Two weeks before that we had 6 impaired in 12 days. So, now that the RIDE has been on for just over a week it’s nice to see there there’s only one. It would be nicer to see that there’s zero,” she said.

Ward also says Festive RIDE checks found two G2 license holders to have alcohol in their system, which isn’t permitted.

One received a 72-hour suspension.

The Festive RIDE campaign continues through January 7th.
