Analysts were expecting a jump in the price of gasoline after a surge in oil prices this week and it has happened locally.

It all involves a production cut announcement from OPEC.

Here in North Bay, the price of gas is up about 9 cents, to just under $1.10 a litre for regular, at several fueling pumps.

However, some are still listed just over $1.00.

Earlier this week, the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries announced 14 members will scale back output by 1.2 million barrels a day starting in the new year.

Reports out of Ottawa and Toronto say gas prices there went up by a nickel, with another increase expected tonight.
