A 33 year old city man is facing 11 charges, including arson, uttering death threats and assault with a weapon after an incident on the 800 block of Wyld Street Monday.

Police say a roommate fled and called police about a man swinging a sword and burning a roll of toilet paper.

Police arrived and the man then barricaded himself inside with the Emergency Response Team dispatched.

Residents were evacuated and Wyld Street was blocked to traffic.

Police say just after 6 pm the accused set his apartment on fire and left, holding a sword, which was allegedly thrown at police.

A Conducted Energy Weapon was used to get the accused under control, while the fire was put out by city fire crews.

No one was injured but the building sustained extensive damage.

Other residents were unable to return to their units.
