A new 18,000 Square Foot North East Ontario Family Help and Treatment Centre is being built in Downtown North Bay.
Hands The Family Help Network held a ground breaking ceremony Friday at 391 Oak Street East.
Officials say it will be a regional clinical facility that will feature enough space to need and demand for mental health services.
The project is worth nearly $9-million. is expected be completed by the end of October next year.

The province is paying for two thirds of the cost around $6 Million.

The rest is coming from fundraising activities and Executive Director Jeffrey Hawkins says they still need to raise about a Million

.He says the new facility will solve a lot of issues including more treatment space, respectful treatment space and improved accessiblity for the people they see.

Hawkins says they will continue to have three locations in the city as the Main Street operation will close with this new facility being built as they already have a residential treatment centre on John Street and an Autism Centre on Lakeshore Drive.

The new facility will serve as a base for over 35 clinical professionals, operate as a hub to address needs throughout the North East and be a training centre as well.

This will be the third major project to come to Oak Street in the past year or so, with the new Health Unit building and a new hotel being built on Oak West.
