Last week we told you about the possibility of six North Bay schools becoming two by 2020.

Now, the next step involved with that option is moving forward.

The Near North Board as started an accommodation review for E.T. Carmichael, E.W. Norman and W.J Fricker public schools and Chippewa, West Ferris and Widdifield secondary schools.

The ARC Committee will be formed next month with the first public meeting to take place February 15th.

A final decision by the board, either to go with the committee’s recommendation, alter it or approve a different outcome, will happen in June.

Officials say they’re looking for public input throughout the process.

“The elected school trustees will have an important consideration to make for the future of the Board and the City of North Bay. We welcome any constructive suggestions during this ARC process in order that the best decision is made for our current and future staff and students,” said Board Chair David Thompson.

In a release, the board says consultation is a critical element of the review process and there will be a number of ways to get involved.

The goal of the accommodation review is to inform the community, encourage discussion and seek input.
