Last week we heard some popular get-away destinations for local residents include the Dominican Republic and Cuba.

Today we’re learning over three-million Canadians, a-third of those from Ontario, will be travelling outside the country this winter.

A new Rogers survey finds one person in 10 will travel abroad.

And while most trips will be to the U-S, Rogers V-P Leroy Williams says a huge number of us will crowd the beaches further south.

“Almost half of those folks are going to go to the Caribbean and Mexico, and then there’s those of us who a little bit more adventurous, about 1 in 12 are going to head over to Europe,” he said.

The survey finds close to 80% of travelers change the way they use their mobile devices to avoid roaming charges.

Rogers is now offering fixed roaming charges to consumer wireless customers, not just those on sharing plans.
