We should see conditions on some snowmobile trails in North Bay improve and open up in the next week or two.

North Bay Snowmobile Club public relations director Shawn Flindall says it’s all thanks to the blast of cold weather in the forecast.

“A lot of people have got itchy throttle thumbs and really want to get out there. But, trails are not safe, are not open and it’s just a real danger to be out there at this point,” he said.

“Trout Lake is still open water, most of the waterways and swamps have not frozen properly yet,” Flindall added.

He says after a short season last year, they’re looking forward to a good season ahead.

There are some limited trail conditions in the Mattawa and Almaguin area.
