The drop in crime stats continues in North Bay.

Deputy Police Chief Scott Tod says as of the end of November crimes were down in most areas including sexual offenses, assaults, robberies, drug charges and total criminal offenses.

In fact, sexual offenses showed a 10 per cent decline year to year.

Tod says going from 80 to 70 sexual offenses through 11 months is a good sign, but it’s not clear what the reason is behind the improvement.

He says they are making a concerted effort on educating officers regarding the investigation of sexual offenses.

He also say they did apply for a grant to provide training, but weren’t successful.

One area that is up is calls for service, by about 1,100.
