The Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry says several ice huts have been seized from Lake Nipissing as a part of an investigation.

An email to our newsroom from the Ministry says that a charge has been laid and the matter is under investigation.

The individual has been charged with “placing a fishing hut on ice with the prescribed number not displayed” which is contrary to a section of the Fish and Wildlife Conservation Act.

Several reports suggest the huts belong to the operator of an online ad that garnered plenty of backlash earlier this month for saying status card users were not welcome.
