Two commendations were handed out at Wednesday’s Police Services Board meeting: one to a citizen Robyn Colvin and the other to an officer Constable Randy Adair.

On July 13th of last year, Colvin observed a woman struggling in the water in Lake Nipissing at the access point near Thompson Avenue.

She called 911 and before police arrived ventured out in the water and began the rescue herself.

Robyn said she saw the pills and when she got to her the woman was face down and she flipped her over.

And that’s when city police Constable Randy Adair came to help with the rescue.

The woman was taken back to shore safely and made a full  recovery. It turns out the woman had swallowed a large quantity of anti depressants and some alcohol.

Constable Adair wanted Colvin recognized for what she did.

He says officers appreciate the help they get from the community because they can’t do it all by themselves.
