An update to the labour dispute at the Children’s Aid Society of Nipissing and Parry Sound.

CAS officials say they have prepared a new proposal and have invited CUPE Local 2049 to resume talks.

They say negotiations will be taking place tomorrow with a conciliator after the union accepted the invite.

“We value our staff and want them back at work,” says Nipissing Parry Sound CAS Executive Director Gisele Hebert. “We are ready once again to tackle the key outstanding issues.”

“We are eager for an end to the lockout and for a deal that means we can keep children safe,” said Debbie Hill, president of Local 2049 of the Canadian Union of Public Employees.

Workload is a key issue.

The employees were locked out on December 23rd.
