Officials with the North Bay Museum Society are welcoming 150-thousand dollars in provincial funding.

As we told you last week, the funding comes from the Ontario 150 Community Capital Program.

They say the money will allow for the continued operation of the Discovery North Bay Museum, specifically window replacement and masonry repairs, allowing for an increased focus on exhibits and community programming.

Treasurer William Ferguson says they do get $22,000 a year in funding from the province under the community museum operating grant.

Ferguson points out the building costs $100,000 a year just to open so these funds will come in handy.

Ferguson says repairs need to be made on a regular basis so this money will help .

He says the building was fully restored over a decade ago but the building takes a beating at the back from the lake so constant improvement is needed.
