The entire community is being invited out to the 54th Carnaval des Compagnons this week.

Events and activities run through Thursday, starting today (Sunday) with the opening ceremonies at Memorial Gardens at 1pm.

A spaghetti dinner and baked beans dinner is also taking place at 4:30 pm at Les Compagnons.

Program Coordinator Lou Gagne says the big draw to Carnaval is the cultural aspect and, of course, Bonhomme Carnaval for kids of all ages.

Activities include plenty of music throughout the week, there’s a public skate tomorrow (Monday) from 1 to 3pm at Pete Palangio Arena, an Evening of the Arts on Wednesday at the WKP Kennedy Gallery and the unveiling of Bonhomme on Thursday evening at Les Compagnons.

They’re also highlighting all the school carnivals that are happening on the Friday.
