The chair of a Council Committee looking to make recommendations involving the future of the Dionne Quints home and artifacts is back from a visit with Annette Dionne in Montreal.

Councillor Chris Mayne and Jeff Fournier, the head of the local Friends of the Quints Museum Home group visited the Dionne sister on the weekend.

Mayne says the two surviving sisters would like to see everything remain together as one museum collection.

“Their biggest concern is that the house and the antique artefacts would be separated and basically lost,” he said.

Mayne says next for the committee is looking at a location for keeping the home in North Bay, with discussions involving the North Bay museum.

He says that would be the ideal location.

“Personally, I think it’s a great fit. To have a nationally significant artifact, a museum display as part of the North Bay Museum, or close to it, to share services like storage and curation. To me, that makes a lot of sense,” Mayne says.

He adds that a second choice would be at the waterfront, near the carousels.
