North Bay’s mayor says he’ll do all that he can to keep good-paying Ontario Power Generation jobs here in North Bay.

Mayor Al McDonald says he has been trying to get confirmation on speculation that 44 jobs will be transferred to other communities, but to no avail.

“I’ve been trying to get information out of OPG, but they’ve refused to share any information with us. I reached out to the Minister of Energy to have him look into it last week and I’m still waiting to hear back,” he says.

McDonald says the workers don’t want to leave.

He also say if the rumours are true it would be a major blow to the local economy.

“In excess of about $4-million in payroll that we’re going to lose here in North Bay, so it is significant,” McDonald says.
