Bestselling co-author of Looneyspoons and host of TV’s Eat, Shrink and be Merry Janet Podleski is in the city today.

She’s the keynote speaker at an Enterprising Women Event at the Best Western.

This morning on KiSS 100.5 she told Kevin Oschefski it’s been 20 years since she and her sister quit their jobs and came up with the book Looneyspoons.

“It was almost like that Kevin Costner Field of Dreams, ‘if you build it they will come’, we just really believed in our hearts that if we get this book on store shelves, people are going to love it and it’s going to help millions of Canadians to eat healthy,” she said.

And that ties in with her recipe for success.

She says it’s about acting like something you want has already happened, in a way tricking the brain into thinking it has.

“We acted like we were best selling authors, we pretended we were on TV shows already, we pictured people using our book and becoming healthier and then it all happened,” she said.

The one day Enterprising Women Event from The Business Centre Nipissing Parry Sound and PARO Centre for Women’s Enterprise includes keynotes and workshops, speed mentoring, a tradeshow, networking opportunities and an awards gala honoring women throughout the northeast who have made positive contributions in their community.
