CT-33 Thunderbirds swim team members won 22 medals at the first long course swim meet of the season this past weekend in Sudbury.

Trael Daly Stevens led the medal count with five gold and broke the club record in the 400 metre Individual Medley.

Riley Periard (pictured) won 4 gold and a bronze medal, Timothy Corbeil won a gold medal and broke a club record in the 50 metre back stroke while Cole Paralovos broke two club records in the 100 metre and 200 metre breast stroke events and won a silver medal.

Zachary Boucher, Samuel Denomme, Jesse Hammond, Evan Kilroy, Sheldon Kilroy, Gavin Wall, Sydney Doidge and Peyton Paralovos also had top 3 finishes.

Thunderbird swimmers with top 10 finishes were Michael Denomme, Myles Denomme, Noah Papatheodorou, Drew Sinclair, Abigail Betsill, Leah Chirico, Melody Farrell, Grace Hong, Annika Lainevool,
Emilia Lainevool, Kiara Palavicino, Jaiden Paralovos, Ryleigh Paralovos, Madeline Tanner and Jenna Wall.

Personal best times were recorded by all Thunderbird team members at the event with special mention to Rachelle Ouellette achieving personal best times in four events.

This was the first long course event for both Sydney Laughren and Zachary Boucher.

Next up, the Thunderbirds are heading to the Petawawa Vimy Ridge Invitational hosted by the Petawawa Predators Swim Club on April 1st 2017.

 

Meantime, 35 North Bay Titans swim team members took in the first long course meet of the season this past weekend in Sudbury.

Julia Rivet earned four first place finishes and was second in another event.

Other first place honours go to Gabriel Cadieux, Steve Cholette, Joshua Gough, Annabelle Jackson and Ayden Michaud.

Second place finishes went to Owen Baas and Nikita Ouellette.

Titans who placed third included Ashlyn Auger, Cooper Jackson, Sarah Lepkan, Brody Marietti, Chloe Popp, Madilyn Reaume and Drew Stephenson.

The following swimmers achieved personal best times: Leah Dawson, William Fraser, Jack Hachkowski, Julie Jonescu, Olivia McCauley, Madison Piper, Emma Ringuette, Fionna Truong, Katelyn Warner, Emily Yates and Ethan Yates.

Congratulations to Megan Bouffard, Indiana Coffin, Mikaelle Dobbs, Aurora Doughty, Marlee Parker, Carleigh Roy, Riley Roy, Ryan Spencer and Abigail Truong for competing in their first long course meet.

The Titans next meet is the Ontario Team Challenge held at the Markham Pan Am Aquatic Centre April 29 to May 1.
