Team Northern Ontario, including North Bay’s Kate Sherry has won the inaugural Canadian U18 girls curling championship.

Northern Ontario defeated New Brunswick 8-4 in Saturday’s final.

Earlier in the day they won 6-1 over Nova Scotia in the semifinals.

The championship was played in Moncton, New Brunswick.

 

The Powassan Voodoos schedule for the Dudley Hewitt Cup has been announced.

The Central Canadian Junior A Championship goes May 2nd to 6th in Trenton.

Powassan opens the tournament against the host team on Tuesday, May 2nd (7:30 pm).

The next day the Voodoos play Dryden (2:30 pm) followed by a game against Georgetown on Thursday, May 4th (2:30 pm).

The second place team in the preliminary round will take on the third place team on May 5th to decide who advances to the final on May 6th against the first place team.

The tournament winner advances to the Royal Bank Cup, the National Junior A Championship May 13th to 21st in Cobourg.

Powassan won the NOJHL championship this past Friday night with a 7-4 victory in Blind River, sweeping the Beavers in four games.
