The Capitol Centre’s Children’s Festival is coming back.

The 2nd annual event goes June 16th to 18th.

The cost is $10 a day or $15 for the weekend.

Infants 1 & under are free.

“We’ve been looking forward to another edition of the Children’s Festival all year,” says Dee Adrian, Executive Director at the Capitol Centre, “and this year with the addition of support acts on Friday and Saturday, and the Armed Forces Day festivities, we guarantee a truly exciting, inspiring, and eye-opening weekend for the children.”

In a release, officials say on Friday June 16th at 6:30 PM, the Festival launches with highly acclaimed Dufflebag Theatre performing “Beauty and the Beast.”

Dufflebag is nearly world famous for their witty adaptations of fairytales and classic stories.

The family activity fair is back this year on Saturday June 17th from 8:30 AM to 1:30 PM with bouncy castles, costumed characters, puppet theatre, jugglers, carnival games, balloonists, live music, art and music workshops.

There’s also an interactive demonstration by Steve Featherstone’s Reptile Adventure Camp at 9 AM, and performance art company Le Patin Libre in a dance-rollerblading show inspired by Disney on Ice, happening at 9:30 AM, 12:30 PM and 2:30 PM outside in the parking lot.

The Children’s Festival aligns with Armed Forces Day this year with activities including an Armed Forces Photo Booth, a Snowbirds Meet & Greet at 11 AM, and an Airplane Factory where the kids will learn a little about aviation while building and decorating an airplane of their own.

Saturday’s activities wrap up at 1:30 PM with a hands-on interactive performance by Cosima Grunsky of music from around the world featuring boomwhackers, hand drum, guiro, maracas and more.

On Sunday, June 18th there’s a FREE showing of The Lego Batman Movie at 2 PM.
