Officials say the area was fortunate the rainfall on the weekend was on the lower end of what was expected, but water courses are still high and there’s some flooding in low lying areas.

Lake Nipissing is currently 18 cm above the maximum operating level.

It’s at 196.13m and could rise to flood level by next week.

Parks Creek in North Bay is trending downwards while the La Vase River and Wasi River have peaked and are receding.

Officials say the Ottawa River in Mattawa has caused backwater flooding on the Mattawa River, but it has also reached its peak and is expected to continue to decrease.

With the potential for more rain this weekend the Conservation Authority continues to monitor the weather and water levels.
