North Bay Mining week is underway with the focus on the importance of the mining industry to the local economy.

An appreciation evening goes tonight (Tuesday) at the Best Western.

Mayor Al McDonald will read a proclamation at a special luncheon tomorrow, where Michael Winship, the President of CIM Canada is the guest speaker.

Friday features several speakers, including former Premier Bob Rae, during a session on realizing the untapped potential of Ontario’s north.

“On behalf of the CIM, we look forward to working with other professional organizations during mining week to bring awareness to our community. There are approximately 67 companies in North Bay, which support the mining industry. This wouldn’t be possible without the support of the community,” says Thomas Rannelli, Chair of the CIM Northern Gateway Branch.
